Hi there! In my exciting haste to start my blog, I neglected to share some things about myself. Welcome to Being Alexandra, my name is Alexandra, but I go by Aly! I'm a twenty-something graduate from a small liberal arts college in Upstate New York, currently residing in Boston where I was born & raised. Here are a few of my favorite things I thought I would share!
"Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the Fall" - Having been spoiled growing up in New England, I have grown a deep love and appreciation for Autumn. The changing colors of the leaves, the hot apple cider, the abundance of cozy sweaters and boots, caramel apples & pumpkins, scented candles, and the crisp cool air are all warmly welcomed. I look forward to Mother Nature's doings every year!
Wherever you go, go with all your heart - Next on my list are postcards! For as long as I can remember, whenever I went on a vacation, I made a point of purchasing a postcard for later reference. I have continued with this tradition and sometimes buy multiple postcards (I can't resist when they are all so beautiful!). During my junior year of college, I studied abroad in England. While there I traveled all across Europe and purchased a postcard for every city I went to. I still have all of them! |
"May you always have a shell in your pocket & sand in your shoes." - No matter where I go, Cape Cod has always held a special place in my heart and it continues to remain my favorite place in the world. Nothing quite compares to its beaches, quaint towns, hydrangeas, and delicious ice cream! Since I was young, I have spent at least part, if not my entire summers, on Cape Cod where I would sail, play tennis, go to the beach, and work. Chatham has become a second home for me where friends and family congregate. Fourth of July festivities are a particular favorite of mine. Looking forward to going down in a few days! |
"Sports do not build character, they reveal it." - Being active has always been an integral part of my lifestyle. I have always played a sport since I was little. It was in high school I decided to try rowing. To put it simply, it changed my life. For all four years of college, I competed on my college's DIII team where we placed at the NCAA Championship a number of times. Because of rowing, I have adapted a lifestyle that surrounds fitness, nutrition and mindfulness. I plan to continue to stay active despite that I am no longer competing!
I hope you enjoyed my list of a few of my favorite things! I look forward to sharing more about myself as I build my blog!
